Finney Valley Awards Program
The Finney Valley Program is our progressive camper program. Each year there are different activities to complete and a different rocker to earn.
Requirements for all Awards:
- Be a camper at Wente Scout Reservation for the required number of years
- Attend the Finney Valley Ceremony following Friday campfire
- Do a good turn daily
Choker Setter (1st year camper)
Do three 3 of the following:
- Earn two merit badges at camp or complete 5 requirements toward rank advancement.
- Catch a critter and take it to nature area or catch 10 crickets for the Camp Office lizards.
- Complete 5 Kali-Ama posts
- Attend the Wooly Wash at least once
Cedar Savage (2nd year camper) Do three 3 of the following:
- Earn two merit badges at camp
- Complete the Kali-Ama
- Attend the Wooly Wash at least twice
- Participate in a Troop Shoot or open shoot at any of the ranges.
Straw Boss (3rd year camper)
Do 3 of the following:
- Earn three merit badges at camp
- Complete the Kali-Ama
- Attend the Wooly Wash at least 3 times
- Go on a trail ride on horse or bike
- Swim the half mile
- Earn Snorkeling, BSA
Top Man (4th year camper)
Do 4 of the following:
- Earn 3 badges at camp
- Complete the King Kali-Ama Trail
- Attend the Wooly Wash every day
- Swim the mile
- Climb or rappel at the rock
- Earn Paul Bunyan Woodsman
Bull of the Woods (5th year camper)
Do 4 of the following:
- Earn two merit badges at camp
- Complete the King Kali-Ama Trail
- Create your own requirement(see Camp or Program Director before starting this requirement)
- Shoot a black powder rifle
- Assist in Eagle Trail or merit badge instruction(see Camp or Program Director before starting this requirement)
- Bring us a shrubbery(see Camp or Program Director before starting this requirement)
Legend of Finney Valley (6th year camper)
Do the following:
- Do one different requirement from each of the first 5 years.
- Attend the Legend meeting at camp.
- Be on the campsite inspection team.
- Bring us another shrubbery (see Camp or Program Director before starting this requirement)
Legacy of the Almight High Masters of the Grand Royal Institution of the
Siblings of the Stick on a String (7th+ year camper)
Do the following:
- Attend an off-season work party.
- Complete two off-season goals.
- Cut down the mightiest tree in the forest with a herring(see Camp or Program Director before starting this requirement)
- Memorize the entirely not secret secret stuff of this rank.
